1) You are the co-owner of Tashan, a popular South Asuan Restaraunt in Greater Boston. Tell us your story, where you grew up and how you ended up living in Boston.
I was born and raised in New Delhi, India . Got married to Vishal Sood in 2008 and moved to Boston, MA. Currently I reside in North reading and have 2 beautiful children (boy 7, girl 4)
2) It is exciting that you have a restaurant that you have recently launched. Tell us how you came up with the concept and name for this?
After I came to Boston in 2008, i joined the restaurant business, Gourmet India which is a chain of fast-casual Indian restaurants and catering services. Seeing the success of the business and our experience in the industry, Vishal (my husband) and i thought of opening a much needed chic and classy Indian restaurant in the Boston Area.
We use to always go to New York for great Indian food with excellent ambiance and atmosphere and always wished we could open something on those lines .
Tashan means STYLE, and the name inspired the décor of Tashan incorporating a palate of teal, grey and gold. The artwork showcased within the space includes a multi-colored mural depicting progressive Indian women by renowned artist Jenny Vyas, as well as abstract gold artwork by Annissa Zak, bringing the contemporary Indian design to life.
3) As the platform for women dreamers, what is your next big dream?
Its too soon to talk about that but my dream would definitely be on opening more concept-based restaurants around greater Boston area. Maybe a lounge and Indian Tapas.
