1) Tell us your story. You are a physician executive and the Co-Founder and President of Health4theworld, a global non profit which aims at promoting health equity. What inspired you to pursue your career in healthcare?
My parents are doctors and I grew up admiring them. When my grandfather had a stroke, he didn't have access to healthcare resources needed to help him in his village in India. This inspired me to go into healthcare and start at a global health nonprofit, Health4theWorld which aims at promoting health equity.
2) Your work is focused on the intersection of technology and healthcare. Tell us more about this. How do you see tech and healthcare overlapping in the near future?
I believe that tech and healthcare have a limitless potential in the future. We will see increasing applications of artificial intelligence, mobile health, virtual reality & other technologies in healthcare. This will improve patient care and augment the efforts of healthcare providers in providing better care.
3) You have impacted so many communities with your work. What has been the most rewarding moment?
This journey has brought numerous rewarding moments more than I expected. I think the most rewarding has been seeing so many patient lives being saved around the world because of the efforts of our team.
4) As an associate professor, what are your top three pieces of advice to rising healthcare professionals?
The top 3 pieces of advice would be:
1. Hard work: Nothing replaces hard work and the efforts put in everyday which add up for a positive impact.
2. Believe: if you believe you can, you will. Don't let the failures or discouragements or criticism distract you.
3. True north: It is important to keep sight of the true north. The mission of helping others is always the center and the driving force. It helps guide us through difficult situations in life.
5) As the platform for women dreamers, what is your next big dream?
